UPDATE: The missing snowboarder who went missing Wednesday from Heavenly Ski Resort has been found. According to Douglas County Undersheriff Paul Howell 24-year-old Corey Hoffman was staying in a hotel room and didn't call family members to let them know he was staying overnight.
On Wednesday January 9
th at about 8:30 p.m. the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Heavenly Ski Resort, Stagecoach Lodge in Stateline, Nevada on the report of an overdue snowboarder.
Corey and his brother had been snowboarding at Heavenly Ski Resort during the day, and became separated on their last run down the mountain. Corey’s vehicle has been located in the parking lot at the Heavenly Ski Resort and he has not been in contact with any family or friends. DCSO did track his cell phone and it was located in his vehicle.
Douglas County Search and Rescue, El Dorado County SAR and Heavenly Ski Patrol searched throughout the night. Rescue crews faced tough weather conditions including snow, wind, and avalanche danger.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office also called in helicopters from Washoe County Sheriff/RAVEN and NAS Fallon to join the search.
