(KRNV & MyNews4.com)-- SPARKS, Nev. More than eight hundred people gathered to celebrate the life of longtime Sparks educator and assemblyman Bernie Anderson.

A memorial was held at Immaculate Conception Church in Sparks.

The crowd included Governor Brian Sandoval, gaming icon, John Ascuaga, and a host of politicians, lobbyists, lawyers, and educators.

Anderson died last Friday due to pulmonary problems and had been in a Reno hospital since December 26th. He was 71-years-old.

Anderson had a 20-year career in legislative politics, ending in 2010 after first being elected as a Sparks assemblyman in 1990.

At the service this morning, people were able to reflect on the man who gave back so much to our community.
