SPARKS, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Sparks Police Department recently conducted an underage drinking sting, and out of the 13 businesses, only three sold to the underage decoy.
The sting was conducted Nov. 16, 2012. Sparks Police used an underage decoy to buy alcohol from businesses in the Sparks area that are licensed to sell alcohol. The decoy used her own ID to attempt to purchase alcohol. She was able to buy in three locations, which were Pyramid Discount Liquor at 300 Pyramid, the Sierra Mart at 5245 Vista Blvd, and the Safeway mini-mart and gas station at 2808 Vista Blvd. Clerks Wendi Vasquez, George Gomez, and Kimberly Sykes were all cited for Sale of Alcohol to Underage Subject.
Sparks Police say these businesses followed proper procedure and the law and did not sell to the underage subject: Nemo's Market, Vista Mart, Quik Serve, Dollar Plus and Mini, JB Liquor, Citi Mart, King Liquor, Around the Corner Liquor, Jackson's (Vista and Brierly), and Pauls Market.
Prior to the operation, the Sparks Police Department received complaints from citizens about two of the three businesses that had employees sell to the underage decoy.
