FERNLEY, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- A motorcyclist was shot in the arm while riding in the desert on Saturday.

According to Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputies, three motorcycle riders were riding in the desert near a dry lake bed known as Sarasota Flats, when one of them was shot in the elbow. The injury is not life-threatening.

Deputies say the Sarasota Flats is about 600-800 yards and a common area for target practice. Deputies made contact with several subjects shooting at the flats, and could not determine from which direction the bullet came.

The investigation is ongoing, and does not appear to be malicious.
