NHP Looking for Motorists Who Helped After Fatality Crash
The Nevada Highway Patrol would like to recognize those motorists who stopped to either render first aid or provide other assistance at a recent crash scene on Interstate 80 involving a wrong-way driver.
On December 1, 2012, shortly before 9:00 pm, troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a call on Interstate 80 in the Fernley area involving a wrong-way driver. After several attempts to stop the errant driver, she subsequently crashed into three other vehicles and died at the scene as a result of the traumatic injuries sustained in the event. In addition to Trooper Dave Gibson and off-duty Trooper Rob Conely who were first on scene, several additional motorists stopped to either render first aid, assisted with warning approaching traffic to the crash scene area, or provided a sense of calm to those involved in the multiple-vehicle event, before additional public safety personnel arrived on scene.
The senior leadership of NHP-Northern Command West would like to identify those who assisted in that tragedy and recognize them at a ceremony to be held sometime in the near future. If you know of anyone who assisted our agency that evening, please contact Captain Susan Aller-Schilling by e-mail at saller-schilling@dps.state.nv.us or by calling her at (775) 689-4638 regarding case number NHP-121200751.
