Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association Executive Director Eddie Bonine has announced that all local outdoor NIAA-sanctioned activities have been cancelled for Friday, August 30th and Saturday, August 31st due to the poor air quality in the area.

This applies to NIAA-sanctioned activities in the following counties: Washoe, Douglas, Carson, Lyon, Storey, Churchill, Mono (CA), and El Dorado (CA).

In a letter released on Thursday afternoon, the NIAA stated that if any NIAA-member school in the above mentioned counties are able to move their contest(s) to another county outside the areas named above - those that have an AQI of 50 or below (green range) then they may participate in their activities with the proper authorization from the school district.
