RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The Nevada Department of Agriculture removed more than 10 wild horses from the Damonte Ranch area early this morning.

Advocates against the round up were back on scene today. The pen where the horses had been trapped was empty.

The horses were captured Tuesday and advocates lined the streets in protest.

Advocates on scene say they are against the round up but the transfer went smoothly.

News 4 is waiting to hear back from the Governor's office about the controversial round ups in the area.

I have watched these horse roam down my street for the past year. They are beautiful and I miss them. Please let us know what happens to them. I feel like a part of my family has been stolen from me.

they will go to the slaughter auction. Unlike BLM where they hold them for a while then 'sneak' them off to slaughter as per the Tom Davis case, dept of AG sends them directly to the slaughter auction, where they go to the highest bidder.... please see Virginia Range wild horse protection Fund webpage for things you can do to help and keep updated.

What's going to happen is a significant issue. At the present time the department transports the horses to the Stewart Conservation Camp in Carson City. Later they will be hauled to Fallon where they will go to the livestock sale at Nevada Livestock Marketing on Allen Rd. Unlike BLM horses, the slaughter buyers can have a go at obtaining the Virginia Range horses for their trade.
