LAS VEGAS (AP) — Longtime conservative social issues of abortion and gay marriage were stripped from the Nevada Republican Party platform by delegates to the state convention in Las Vegas.

The omissions mirror that of the Clark County GOP, which voted earlier to remove language defining marriage as between a man and a woman and statements opposing abortion.

Many Republicans are reevaluating their strong stances on social issues as public opinion shifts in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage. The topics have become a political liability for the GOP, especially among younger voters, and don't fit with the overall Republican belief in personal liberty.

It's not a Democrat vs Republican issue, it's Conservative viewpoints vs Liberal viewpoints. @vietnamvet25, 1st off thank you for serving! Answer me this riddle: Why is it OK for Democrats to say one thing and do another but it's not OK for Republicans? They ALL do it come election time. It is incumbant upon the voter to research the long-term actions of a candidate, not what they say just B4 elections! Look where their special interest PAC money comes from! My view? When we stand to be judged before those pearly gates, I think God has a special place in Hell for those that kill the defenseless! No one will EVER convince me that same sex marriage is a normal thing no matter what laws mankind passes. These kinds of actions are what chip away at the moral fiber of America, the solid foundation our nation was built on! signed, Old White Guy, (a patriot that remembers what our strong nation used to be!)

No Republicans, No Democrats, and very few incumbents. When the party line becomes more important than the issues, it's time to change our ways. Abortion, birth control and sexual matters are way too important to leave in the hands of politicians. Just because they're not part of the platform doesn't mean that they're no longer a Republican/Tea Party goal.

This looks like a wolf in sheep's clothing. Changing a platform so that the words are not spoken during a campaign to dupe the voters into believing that the GOP is not against same sex marriage , or right to choose, or equality in wages for women. Voters do your research before supporting these OLD WHITE MEN
