WENDOVER, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Nearly two years after a young girl from West Wendover, Nevada was found dead, the story finds itself in the national spotlight.
Dateline NBC is doing an in-depth story on the shocking case and the people involved. It airs tonight right here on News 4.
The story surrounds 16-year-old Micaela "Mickie" Costanzo, who went missing from the little gambling town of West Wendover in March of 2011. For almost two days, search teams combed the enormous desert looking for her, and then a small grave was found under a clump of sagebrush.
Mickie had been murdered by being stabbed repeatedly. Cell phone records led the police to one of Mickie's oldest friends, Kody Patten, who finally confessed, saying it was an accident arising from an argument. Mickie's family, however, is convinced there is more to the story.
Dateline will have this story tonight on News 4 at 9pm.
