YERINGTON, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Nevada senators Democrat Harry Reid and Republican Dean Heller have jointly introduced the Lyon County Economic Development and Conservation Act of 2012.
The Lyon County Lands Bill will allow the city of Yerington to work with Nevada Copper to expand its mining operations.
It's hoped the new legislation will create 800 mining jobs and 500 construction jobs in the area.
The bill also calls for land to be used for recreation and infrastructure purposes.
