SILVER SPRINGS, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- One man is under arrest after a battery investigation led to an officer-involved shooting in Lyon County.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, a deputy was conducting a follow-up on a battery investigation in the 3700-block of Cypress Street. As the deputy made contact, the suspect became non-compliant with verbal commands. The suspect then battered the deputy and attempted to run away.

A taser was deployed, but it was ineffective. Then, the suspect displayed a firearm, and one shot was fired during the incident.

The suspect was identified as Florencio Brito, a 32-year-old Silver Springs resident. Brito was arrested on scene and booked into the Lyon County Jail on charges of Battery on a Peace Officer, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Resisting Arrest with a Deadly Weapon, and Resisting Arrest. His bail was set at $11,140.

This incident is still under investigation, and Nevada Division of Investigation is taking the lead in the investigation. A concurrent internal administrative investigation is being conducted by the Lyon County Sheriff's Office. The Deputy has been placed on routine paid administrative leave.
