About 20 years ago, while signing up for a grocery card I mentioned to the cashier that the guy behind me could hear here--yet she kept asking me to SAY my SSN..... I.D. theft is a violent crime and should be punished as such.

so-called "patriot" act requires banks, etc. to collect your physical address. Then, even if U have a P.O. Box, they like to mail U a card and/or use that resdential ZIP code. so Y bother 2 think "outside the box"?

The latest craze in identity theft is not only theft of financial identity, but theft of an entire identity, leaving the victim having to prove they are who they say they are. In *total* identity theft that's not as easy as it might sound.
