RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Last night around 10:45pm, The Nevada Highway Patrol, (NHP) was pursuing a stolen silver Toyota Corolla at 120 miles per hour from the area of West McCarran Blvd in Reno, and across the California stateline.
Truckee California Highway Patrol has been advised of the chase, and were standing by at Farad Road on-ramp to westbound I-80. Truckee CHP says they successfully deployed a spike strip as the fleeing suspect vehicle passed at an estimated speed of 100 miles per hour.
Truckee CHP says they engaged in the pursuit as the suspect vehicle began up Iceland grade at an around speed of 40 miles per hour. The suspect struggled to maintain control of his vehicle due to his rapidly deflated and disintegrating tires.
CHP says at around 11pm, the suspect vehicle yielded to the right shoulder, at which point in time, Truckee CHP took the suspect into custody.
Kody Strong, 21, was booked at The Nevada County Sheriff’s station in Nevada City without further incident.
