Sun Valley, NV (KRNV & MyNews4.com)-- Washoe County Sheriffs have arrested a man suspected of being involved in a shooting that took place early Thursday January, 17th.
At around 1:18 a.m. on January 17th Deputies with Washoe County Sheriff's Office were called to Renown Hospital after reports that a man was being treated there for a gunshot wound. Investigators there determined that the 32 year old victim had been injured in a gang related shooting. The wound was not life threatening.
According to Sheriff's reports, the man had been shot near the Sierra Pointe Apartment complex at 4400 El Rancho Drive in Sun Valley. Upon investigating the area they found several spent shell casings.
On Friday, January 18th the Sheriff's Office and the Regional Gang Unit identified the shooting suspect as Juan Manuel Sanchez, a 24 year old Sun Valley resident. He was arrested just before midnight at the intersection of East 8th Avenue and Yukon drive in Sun Valley.
Sanchez was booked on one count of Battery with a Deadly Weapon in the Promotion of a Criminal Gang and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.Investigators are still seeking additional information on this crime.
