Police standoff after domestic violence incident

SPARKS, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- A man has been arrested following a domestic dispute and brief standoff with police on Sunday. According to Sparks Police, officers responded to a residence located on the 300-block of View Street at around 1:30 p.m.

Officers say the suspect, identified as 51-year-old Nicholas Polisso, had an argument with his live-in girlfriend. During the dispute, Polisso struck his girlfriend in the head and leg with a solid wooden cane. The victim was able to leave and seek medical attention.

Officers attempted to arrest Polisso in the 300-block of View Street, Polisso fled a short distance and was later apprehended at his residence in the same block.

Polisso was charged with Domestic Battery with a Deadly Weapon causing Substantial Bodily Harm and Domestic Battery, Second Offense. He is being held at the Washoe County Jail on $25,000 bail.
