RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The Reno Police Department says they have seen a series of vehicle burglaries over the last several months, where the suspects are targeting the parking lots of health and fitness clubs.

Beginning in mid January of 2013, there have been twelve reported incidents in the both the Reno and Sparks areas.

According to police, the suspects appear to park their vehicle in the health club lot, and watch as people exit their vehicles. The suspects primarily target females who commonly leave purses in the vehicle. Police say the suspects wait for the victim to enter the club, they then pull up next the vehicle, break out a window, sometimes without even getting out of their own car, then quickly remove items from the car, and drive directly to a local department store and use the cash and credit cards.

The Reno Police Department has obtained several photos of the suspects using the stolen credit cards, and are asking the public's assistance in identifying those suspects, or the vehicles they were driving.

Anyone having information relating to this crime or the suspect(s) should contact the Reno Police Department at 334-2115, Secret Witness at 322-4900, www.secretwitness.com, or text the tip to 847411 (TIP 411) keyword - SW Secret Witness is offering a reward in the amount of $750.00 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect(s).

which health clubs? seems like they are OK with hoodies-up, keepin' warm types...I recall this type of activity before, as well as hiking/jogging car smash-ins. Problem here may be that some "clubs" discourage padlocks or lack a valet. Maybe some real lot camera security would help too, could see more detail than a sweeeper. Insurance Co.'s use these cheapo cameras as an excuse to Not follow up on door dings, I know that much.
