According to Faye Anderson with NV Energy, 2,000 customers affected by the power outage saw their power restored at 9:22 a.m. this morning and the rest of the customer's power was restored at 9:40 a.m.
Anderson tells News 4 that the power outage was due to an equipment failure at their Greg St. and 21st St. substation and after NV Energy crews were able to switch power to an alternate circuit, power was restored.
RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) --According to NV Energy, around 8,000 customers in the Reno and Sparks areas are without power this morning.
NV Energy spokesperson Faye Anderson tells News 4 that the power outage began at 8:15 a.m. and originates from their Greg St. and 21st St. substation. The power outage is affecting the Sparks industrial area, most of Greg St., Prater Way and areas east to Hidden Valley.
Anderson also said that the outage is affecting the Reno-Tahoe Airport area, but according to Heidi Jared with the Reno-Tahoe Airport, it is not affecting the airport or the main passenger terminals.
NV Energy does not know the cause of the outage or when the power will be restored to customers.
