Dominique---Wow! You truly represent all that is wrong with the animal rights/anti-hunting movement, and you managed to fit it all into one paragraph........congratulations. Close minded, overly emotional and angry, ignorant of actual statistics and laws...........way to reveal to the general public the actual thoughts and beliefs of those who oppose hunting. Your paragraph did more to discredit your beliefs than any rebuttal I could possibly put really speaks for itself.

Hunting any animal with dogs is cowardly cruel and barbaric! Don't care to hear any ignorant reasoning from hunters, I feel all hunters are sociopathic killers. There are no statistics available in this article or anywhere that I can find, that state where the tax payers approved this ?? Only the Fish and Wildlife Dept who are bought and paid for by the "special interest" group, because the FACTS are, Hunter's are only 2-5% of the population anywhere. I say, with all the budget cuts, they just get rid of the Fish and Wildlife Dept all together, let the Real Wildlife lover's take over management of Wildlife Watching in our national Parks that would generate 20X the income Hunting does...think about it people!

sinasta---I don't think you grasp what the word "bred" means. Dogs used for bear hunting have been "bred" for generations to develop certain traits that make them successful tracking dogs. Minks have been raised on farms for over a hundred years by individuals using selective "breeding" to bring out traits and colors in the fur. The horrific practice of slave "breeding" in early America, as well as throughout the world, has been well documented and has never been called into question. Perhaps before you call others lazy, you should look in the mirror as I suspect the meat you claim to eat was probably killed, processed, wrapped, and delivered by someone else to the supermarket you buy it from.........although I'm sure the walk from the parking lot must really tucker you out.

So asinine saying dogs were bred for this. Just as asinine as the people that state minks are bred for there coats and you could go as far as saying back in the day when jerks thought blacks were bred for slavery. Neither animal nor man was bred to do the work of someone else. Man is the lazy animal. I have read comments from the hunters in CA that have said they will or have already killed there dogs as they were just for hunting. Yet they say they love there dogs. Before I get judged I do eat meat and do not disapprove of hunting for FOOD I disapprove of lazy ass people that want someone or something else to do the work for them.

Hunting with dogs is the best form of hunting. To many are so uneducated. How is the humane society of the us doing on shelter pets?? 19 bucks a month to line there pockets, and pay for there polotics, and schemes. Wonder how the RICO trial is going with them? Read about them, and groups like them on humanewatch. Fish and game, and wildlife agencies were put in place to keep hunting laws, and management out of the political circle. Bears mountain lions, wolves all beautiful but all deadly. Keep hunting with dogs legal, and we will bring it back in CA!

I'm a hunter and I oppose hunting bears with dogs. The practice may be nearly "as old as man," but then again so are rape and slavery. Shooting a treed bear found with GPS-collared dogs is about as sporting as baiting which is illegal, and brutalizes the dogs. Yes, I know, many hunters take good care of their hounds, but many are simply sadistic bastards who shouldn't be allowed to own a dog!

GMann Really? You rally don't have a clue do you? Hunting with dogs is as old as man. It is hard, natural and selective (catch and release if you will, no accidental taking of lactating sows. Your statement about drones and satellites just shows your ignorance.

If Nevada was smart, they would continue to allow hunting with dogs for any predator species. With California's recent ban on the use of dogs to pursue bears and bobcats, there's a lot of money to be made when California's resident bear/bobcat hunters who use dogs come over the border and spend their money in their state. Being so close, they(California hunters) won't hesitate to buy the out of state license and tags to be able to spend time with their dogs doing what their dogs were bred for.

The reason dogs were first domesticated was to help hunt wild game and protect humans from predators. Now people who live in urban areas and treat their pets like children want to ban something they have absolutely no experience with. If this succeeds the PETA/HSUS types will next want to ban bird hunting with dogs. Their end goal is to ban hunting entirely. Don't be fooled...........
