RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- According to a press release from the Reno Police Department, officers have successfully cited and arrested multiple individuals for noise disturbances and other illegal activities associated with street racing in south Reno.

Reno Police officers worked with concerned citizens and Reno Police Dispatch on Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10 and responded to several reports of noise complaints. The calls for service were related to noise disturbances from speeding vehicles, large crowds of people, and congregating vehicles that are typically associated with street racing.

Over the course of these two nights, Reno Police officers issued 31 traffic and vehicle equipment citations, arrested 6 people for traffic related offenses, and towed several vehicles.

The Reno PD wants to thank the citizens of our community for taking the time to contact Reno Police Dispatch to report these and other illegal activities.

Its kinda odd the town that has HAN, Street Vibes, Air Races doesn't have a legit 1/4 mile dragstrip. I can tell by the makeup of this town that quite a few people would support and possibly venture into the sport of organized drag racing. Fallon is too far to gain the weekly support of Northern Nevadans. Maybe something can happen by the new off road track in Sparks.

No one seems to be able to read between the lines of what I was trying to say! Kids that drag race usually don't use drugs or rob people. It is good clean fun! Folk's in the area that have written in didn't even know where this was going on. So how much do you think that was bothering them? Not at all. Glad they could take away from a group of kids just having fun! A Drag strip in Reno or Sparks would not only make money for the community it would prosper kids that have a interest in technical fields such as engines, electronics and turning innovations. Oh, we can't have that now can we! Put the kid on drugs and place him or her in front of a video monitor to keep them under control! Damn it! What the hell is wrong with our society!

When I was a kid growing up in Carson, they had a quarter mile marked off with white lines behind NSP on prison hill. Us kids would go there to "run It" if we wanted to race. Much safer. I beat a VW bug on my Honda 50 motorcycle. Ha Ha Ha That was about 45 years ago. Sure miss those days.

"South Reno" is a pretty big area. Is it a secret where exactly this street racing was happening? I am curious if it's the same noise I was about to report. Why are so many of your news stories so vague as to the location of the crime? Give us residents some help here!

Reno has never been able to get a drag strip organized, lots of money.....not as much as marijuana dispensaries though. Get those kids off the street and back on drugs for Christ's sake!
