Detectives with the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit, Marshals with the USMS, and Officers with the State of Nevada Department of Parole and Probation apprehended 33 year old Jay Anthony Rea of Reno today.
Rea, a sex offender and absconder from Michigan since 2004, was located in the 3800 block of S. Virginia Street after investigators received a Secret Witness tip indicating he was living in the Reno area and had not registered with local law enforcement as required by state law.
At the time of his arrest Rea, also known as Andrew Fabrizio, was in possession of several credit cards and ID belonging to other people. Rea was transported to the Washoe County Detention Facility and booked on two local felony charges: Sex Offender Failing to Register and Identity Theft. Bail for those charges is set at $25,000.00. Additionally, Rea has outstanding no bail warrants out of Laughlin for Forgery, Possession of False ID and Burglary, all of which are no bail warrants.

The RSONU is a colloboration of the Reno and Sparks Police Departments, and the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, to enforce registration requirements of sex offenders in our area.
