Reno police officers track down shooting suspect

Reno, NV (KRNV & MyNews4.com) – Reno police officers tracked down a suspect who fled after a shooting that injured one man in the area of N. Virginia St. and Plaza St. around 2:45a.m. August 2, 2014.

Officers say they responded to the report of a shooting and when they arrived they found a victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to his arm. Officers say the bullet traveled through the victim’s arm into his thigh. The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was later released.

The Regional Gang Unit is assisting patrol officers with the investigation, which revealed that the victim was with a group walking on Virginia St. when they were confronted by another group. Officers say after a brief exchange of words, the suspect shot the victim. The suspect fled the scene on foot, but was located by patrol officers about a mile from the shooting. This shooting is being investigated as a gang related crime.

Officers arrested Marcos Garcia.
