RENO, Nev. (Mynews4.com & KRNV)- Sheeps Flat, a popular sledding hill near Mt. Rose was busy. Many people were out enjoying the holiday with their families. News 4 was there when one little girl crashed. The five year old ended up with scratches on her cheek but her family says she will be fine. Like many others enjoying the activity, the little girl was not wearing a helmet.
Steve Sheehan, Owner of Bobo's Ski shop in Reno says a lack of snow in the Sierra has made sledding more dangerous. They rent and sell helmets at Bobo's and not just for skiing and snowboarding. Sheehan says any time you are going more than five miles per hour and have the risk of hitting your head, it would be a good idea to have on a helmet.
