SAN DIEGO (AP) — San Diego police have shot and killed a knife-wielding woman who charged an officer after stabbing her son and boyfriend.

A police statement says officers went to a home at around 12:15 a.m. Saturday after 911 callers said a woman had stabbed her 9-year-old son and hit her 15-year-old son in the head with a vase.

A man later told officers that his girlfriend had been acting irrationally and also had stabbed him.

The three victims were treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Police say they found the woman threatening two residents in the parking lot of the multi-unit property. Police say an officer shot her when she raised a large kitchen knife over her head and charged him.

Her name wasn't released.

Sosumenow - maybe you would be okay with getting that close to someone that is trying to stab you but I am not. I certainly would not want my children or husband to either. If someone is trying to kill you I hope you know martial for me, I will shoot!!

If they're charging at you with a knife, why play around? Just shoot them.

Maybe police should be trained in martial arts so they have other ways to stop crazy people beside tazing or just shooting them.
