UPDATE--1:05 p.m.
Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers at the scene have told News 4 that both the car and the school bus are out of service. The accident was caused by a Mercedes failing to yield to the Washoe County School Bus. The male driver of the Mercedes then hit the median wall before hitting the side of the school bus. The car is currently being towed and the only damage to the school bus is the axle. It's unknown if the driver was cited but the on-ramp is no longer closed to traffic.
UPDATE--12:40 p.m.
According to Troopers at the scene, the accident was the result of a passenger vehicle trying to merge into one lane with the bus, onto I-80 westbound. The vehicle got between the school bus and the median wall and both vehicles side-swiped each other. The bus does not look like it has major damage, but the front of the passenger vehicle sustained major damage. Both drivers were not injured.
There is a school bus accident on the on-ramp to I-80 Westbound at Keystone Road.
According to Nevada Highway Patrol, it is a non-injury accident blocking traffic heading westbound on the on-ramp. The Washoe County School District has confirmed with News 4 that there were no kids on the bus and that only the driver was involved.
