If you have done your homework you would have known that Tesla was shut out of new Jersey by the local car dealers who have paid off the politicians [campaign finance of course]. I understand that he was given a crappy work around to sell his cars. Elon took his argument to Washington and was shut down there also. Our glorious representatives evidently valued Dealer campaign contributions rather than help a clean automobile technology. Do you blame Him? come on! Do you think he wants to throw all that money away developing three sites? Thank our Politicians /Lawyers/bureaucrats who are just waiting to get a piece of the action. Last thing on their minds is what would benefit the little guy, the economy, the environment. Both parties talk a good line, I suggest you check out their walk!

@Sumner It has been known by the general public for a month now that the gigafactory would start out in multiple locations, but possibly be built to completion in only one. Assuming they don't all live under a rock on some deserted island, the construction workers would be included in the "general public". If Project Tiger is indeed the Tesla Gigafactory, I'm sure the construction workers are well aware that this project could be cancelled at any time if another state beats Nevada to the punch. They are not being "led on" as you would have people believe, but rather, are being hopeful. A lot of these workers have been unemployed or underemployed for YEARS because of recent economic conditions. I assume, since you appear to be unappreciative of what Elon Musk has ALREADY done for people in this region (assuming Project Tiger is indeed Tesla) with TESLA'S MONEY that you would rather have these EMPLOYED workers on unemployment, supported by YOUR TAXDOLLARS.

It's a damn shame if Reno loses this. Hopefully Nevada lithium will remain cheaper to mine and process than buying it from South America.

It's not arrogance if you can actually do it. It's not greed if you don't care about the money. I certainly hope this project goes to Reno NV, because it is the closest location to the Fremont CA facility in any other state. If everything works out as planned, Tesla Motors will need two more Gigafactories by 2020 anyway. So no one will lose out in the end.

>> Meanwhile Elon still plays his little eccentric game of "see how important and influential I am, BOW TO ME! Oh please. Companies are tired of playing the permit game where they bet billions only to see their investment held hostage by some two bit gov't bureaucrat over paperwork issues. Musk has decided he's not willing to gamble on nonsense like this and instead has taken the put up or shut up approach. If Nevada wants a gigafactory then find out why the project was behind schedule and fix it. Otherwise whine all you want as Texas shows you how it's done. :-)

The more I read about Elon Musk and this whole deal (yes, Tiger is one of the GigaFactory locations) the more I am getting torqued at him. Here's the deal, he has a 3rd party company forking out a fortune to have 2-3 states race to build the ground work for a factory. Whoever reaches the set goal first, wins the plant. The others are just going to sit as they are for potential later use. Hundreds of people at these locations came to work after being told they were "it" and they would have long term jobs only to be told yesterday that they were now suddenly "laid off" and to call back Monday to see if they even have jobs. Meanwhile Elon still plays his little eccentric game of "see how important and influential I am, BOW TO ME!" as he makes states fight over him. This is nothing more than arrogance and greed at it's worst and people are going to lose jobs and hopes and money at the losing sites when he decides to end the "race".
