VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Storey County Sheriff's Deputies are looking for an escaped prisoner in Virginia City.

According to the Storey County Sheriff's Office, at about 1:30 a.m. on October 1, 2012, Jeremy James Morales escaped from the Storey County Jail in Virginia City.  Morales had been hiding in the shadows when the detention deputy performed a cell check he was able to lock the deputy in the cell and escape the facility.

Morales is a 38 year old white male, 5’11”, about 220 lbs, with brown hair and eyes. He was last seen wearing horizontal striped jail clothing with Storey County Inmate stenciled across the back.

Morales had pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a minor and was scheduled to be sentenced to the Nevada Department of Corrections later in the day.  Morales had made comments in the past about being suicidal.  Morales was unarmed at the time of his escape however he should be considered dangerous.  Anyone seeing Morales should immediately contact local law enforcement.

I have been a resident of Northern Nevada for over 40 years, and never have I head of such incompetence in a Sheriffs Department. This spectacularily inept jail deputy blatently disregarded the general procedures that even my grandson would be able to recognize: LOCK THE CELL DOOR! Such blatent disregard for the rules and overall safety of her fellow officers but also the community of Storey county and the surrounding area residents has rarely been seen outside of a bad comedy movie. Why would this jail deputy, who is supposed to be someone who is relied upon to keep the community safe, just conveniently "forget" to lock a cell door? Could it be because she was working with the depraved criminal perhaps? This situation is far too convenient, and I feel that we as a community need to encourage Sheriff Gerald Antinoro to punish this deputy for eith being corrupt or just plain stupid. She has endangered the well being of our comminities' children and needs to be gotten rid of as a dangerous loose end in the organiztion.. We all need to let the Storey County Sheriff's Department know that it does have many outstanding officers, as I myself know from personal experience, but Deputy Adrian is absolutely not one of them.

They did post his photo elsewhere. It's still embarassing, though right?

Hmmmm....escaped from jail? So, where's the picture of the inmate? Dosen't the Storey County Sheriff take booking photos? If the SCSO really wants to ctch this guy they'd release his booking photo so that the public can help find this guy.
