RENO, Nev (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Plows on Northern Nevada highways will be using new technology the next time it snows. The technology relays up-to-the-minute road conditions. Nevada is among three states where the technology is being tested as a way to make winter driving safer and reduce maintenance costs.
More than 20 Nevada Department of Transportation snow plows and maintenance trucks are outfitted with sensors to provide a clearer picture of how roads are faring as winter storms roll in. Ultimately, 40 will get the high-tech upgrade.
