SPARKS, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Sparks Police Chief Steve Keefer has announced he’s retiring.

Keefer tells News 4 his last day on the job officially will be Jun. 3, but he will be relieved of his duties Apr. 25.

He says he is going to work in the private security industry.

Keefer has been chief for three years and he was acting chief for one year. He replaced Steve Asher.

The City is conducting a search for his replacement and say they are looking in-house at a current deputy chief.
