Sparks man allegedly strangles girlfriend and endangers child

Sparks, NV (KRNV & MyNews4.com) – A Sparks man is behind bars after allegedly strangling his girlfriend and leaving his 10 month old child without supervision.

Sparks police say on Mar. 8, 2014 around 4:21 a.m. a woman reported being a victim of domestic battery. Officers say the woman had visible injuries including a swollen lip and marks around her neck that indicate she could have been strangled during the incident.

The suspect has been identified as 26 year old Andrew Dovichi.

According to the victim Dovichi attacked her after she confronted him about infidelity. The woman left the home and called police, but left her 10 month old child with Dovichi.

Officers responded to the home and forced entry after hearing the child crying. Dovichi fled the home before police arrived, leaving the child without supervision.

Dovichi turned himself in on Mar. 9. 2014 and was booked into the Washoe County Jail on Domestic Batter Strangulation, False Imprisonment, Child Endangerment. His bail is set at $37,500.
