CARSON CITY, Nev. (Mynews4.com & KRNV) - "This is ridiculous that we're spending this much time on this," said Assemblywoman Marilyn Kirkpatrick.  The Las Vegas Democrat says there is work to be done and too much time is being wasted on the situation with Assemblyman Steven Brooks, (D) Las Vegas.

Kirkpatrick spoke on camera for the first time today since Brooks arrest on Saturday January 19, 2013.  "I am concerned about Mr. Brooks.  He said he was ill that's why he's not at meetings this week," she said.

Brooks broke his silence since his arrest to Las Vegas Review-Journal Reporter Benjamin Spillman.  An eye-catching and somewhat disturbing photo was slapped across the top of the paper this morning showing a shirtless Brooks with his arms spread out wide.

In the article Brooks said "If (Kirkpatrick) comes to kill me again, I have an armed guard."

As for the accusations, Kirkpatrick says she did not threaten Brooks.  "Well I'm here doing my job and I can't imagine that is the forefront of discussion. I'm here he's supposed to be here I'm not even going to waste my time responding to them," said Kirkpatrick.  "I have a job to do," she said.

While Kirkpatrick and other lawmakers says they will move forward to get the job done, the ever changing saga involving Brooks is hard to ignore.

The reporter says Kirkpatrick denied any threat to Brooks. But the tape does not show Kirkpatrick saying that. She sidesteps the question. I don't think the reporter should so far in interpreting what Kirkpatrick said.
