Standoff in Sun Valley

UPDATE 4:24 P.M.: A four hour standoff in Sun Valley is over and Washoe County Deputies have a suspect in custody.

Deputies say around 10a.m. today, April 20th, 2013, they received reports of an assault with a deadly weapon on Yukon Drive. When Deputies arrived the suspect had fled the area. Deputies later found the man at his trailer near Sun Valley Blvd. and 5th

When the suspect refused to come out of his trailer Deputies called Sparks and Nevada Highway Patrol for assistance. Deputies believed it may have been a hostage situation, because there was a 9 year old child in the trailer with him.

The suspect eventually came out of his home and was arrested. His identity has not been released at this time.

Deputies say no one was injured during the incident.


Sun Valley, NV (KRNV & Deputies responded to a standoff earlier today in Sun Valley. News Four had crews on fifth avenue near the Sun Valley Shopping Center, where the standoff was allegedly taking place. Roads in the area were temporarily closed for the standoff. 

Details are scarce at the moment, but police have announced that they have taken one suspect into custody.
