RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com)-- The Northern Nevada Veterans Resource Center is asking the public to donate food for the holiday to help low-income and homeless veterans.

NNVRC's goal is to collect enough food and gift cards to help feed 50 veterans and their families.

"Our office is unique to this community and even nationwide, because we don't ever turn any veteran away we need help from our community to give them the resources and respect they deserve," NNVRC case manager and team leader Kendra Kolvet says.

The food will be distributed to veterans prior to Thanksgiving so this week is the big push for donations.

-Canned ham
-Cans of green beans
-Cans of corn
-Canned sweet potatoes
