RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- AYSO officials said sometime earlier this week, boxes of equipment were stolen off soccer fields at North Valleys Regional Park and now they're looking for answers.
Chains dangle from a fence, the only evidence left behind by thieves.
"We came here one day and realized our job boxes were stolen," said AYSO 710 coach and fundraising coordinator Michelle Butler.
She said sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning, four boxes were stolen.
"They were about 200 pounds each, these boxes were about five foot wide, a couple feet high and they cost the league about $4,000."
Inside was paint and other equipment for the soccer fields.
"Our players fund these boxes through registration and through fundraising," said Butler. "We come up with the money to pay for the boxes, pay for field equipment."
So, she said, she was shocked when someone would just take it.
"We have no idea who would target us," said Butler. "It's pretty much stealing from children, it would be a really sad person to do that."
AYSO 710 filed a report with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, but she said they still don't have any leads.
"We just want our stuff back. This affected 400 players and these volunteers," she said. "I hope they get caught. I'm very disgusted with what they did and I hope they find it in their hearts to return it."
AYSO 17 has an account set up at Bank of America.
