Three 18-year-olds arrested for auto theft in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. ( & KRNV) -- South Lake Tahoe Police have arrested three 18-year-olds after at least three cars were stolen over a 16-hour period.

Elija Kidwell, Brian Barnes, and Sean Murphy (pictured left to right) all face felony charges of auto theft and possession of stolen property. Police in South Lake Tahoe say they stole at least three cars, all of which were unlocked with keys in the ignition. There was also property stolen from the vehicles in addition to the cars themselves. Two of the stolen cars are still missing.

Officials say they believe there have been more thefts from unlocked vehicles that have not yet been discovered or reported.

Here is a description of the missing vehicles:
- White 1991 Jeep Cherokee, CA plate 2WLV403 in a bright yellow rear license plate frame, with orange and red stripes on the sides with several bumper stickers on the back. It was stolen from in front of a residence on Bowers Avenue. The vehicle has not yet been located. 
- Forest green 1996 Subaru Legacy sedan, CA plate of 6AON070. It was stolen from the parking lot of McDonald’s at 1035 Emerald Bay Road. The vehicle has not yet been located.

South Lake Tahoe Police are asking community members to contact them with any information.

these low-value vehicles weren't secured by their owners; let this be a lesson that the 420 generation should wise up. I'm wondering where they were stripped or maybe just disappear into a NV "backyard"
