RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Scary to know sex trafficking is going on right in our own community. A new documentary airing Wednesday hopes to end the vicious cycle of sex trade in the Silver State.

The 30-minute documentary titled "Trafficked No More" hopes to address nevada's sex trade head on.

Law enforcement officials say sex trafficking is flourishing in Nevada and it's known as modern day slavery.

Officials also say the average age of someone entering domestic minor sex trafficking is 12 to 13 years old.

The uncomfortable trend helped the push for Assembly Bill 67 that was passed the last legislative session. For the first time in Nevada's history the law makes sex trafficking in the state a punishable crime.

During the trailer for the documentary Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto says the new legislation gives law enforcement more tools to go after perpetrators, convict them, and put them away for a long time.

In the documentary viewers will hear from former victims, law enforcement, and state officials, all who have seen first hand the impacts of sex trafficking and interviews reveal some shocking truths of just how easy it can happen to a teen in your community.

The educational documentary is airing Wednesday on News 4 at 7:30 p.m. "Trafficked No More" will air uninterrupted. KRNV News 4 is the only station in all of northern Nevada airing the documentary.

Masto also says in the documentary's trailer the challenge moving forward is there will never be enough federal, state, or local resources. She says it's going to take the community coming together to help battle this vicious crime.
