LYON COUNTY, Nev. (Nevada Highway Patrol News Release) - Last evening at approximately 7:30 pm, troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol were dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover crash on State Route 208 in Lyon County, approximately 5 miles south of Yerington. The preliminary crash investigation details indicate a white 1977 Chevrolet K-10 pickup was traveling south on the two-lane highway just south of Osborne Lane, and driven by 44-year-old David L. Enox of Yerington.
Mr. Enox allowed his vehicle to drift off the right roadway edge when he attempted to re-negotiate the roadway. He over-corrected the steering to the left which caused to truck to travel across both travel lanes when it departed the opposing roadway edge. The truck traveled through a section of fence and overturned several times. During the rollover Mr. Enox was ejected and he came to rest approximately 40 feet from where his vehicle stopped rolling. He sustained very significant injuries and was flown from Yerington to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno by Care Flight. His updated condition was not available this morning.
Trooper Chris Kelly of the Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating this crash. Witnesses to the event or anyone with additional information are encouraged to contact him at (775) 689-4661 or firstname.lastname@example.org regarding case number NHP-130401574.
As a safety reminder, motorists should always wear a seat belt every trip, every time, day or night when riding in a motor vehicle. Nearly thirty-five percent of the motorists killed in fatality crashes investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol statewide last year were not wearing seat belts.
