CARSON City, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Two people are dead after a head-on crash on US Highway 50 near Centennial Drive around 3:30 this morning, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Barb Stapleton said.
Stapleton said a Nissan Ultima was driving the wrong way in the west-bound lanes of US Highway 50 outside of Carson City when it crashed into a Ford Taurus head on.
The Taurus was engulfed in flames and the driver was found dead inside.
The female passenger of the Ultima, died on the scene from injuries she recieved in the crash.
The driver of the Ultima, 34-year-old Jason Cloutier of Carson City, was careflighted to Renown and is in critical condition. Stapleton said if Cloutier survives his injuries, he will likely face charges in the crash.
Stapleton said they believe alcohol was a factor.
The names of the victims have not yet been released.
Hwy 50 is now open after being closed for nearly five hours.
