RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The two found dead in a home on the 4900 block of Mountainshyre Monday are confirmed to be a 46-year-old man and his six-year-old daughter, according to Reno Police.
Police say they were called to the residence on Monday on report of a drowning. REMSA personnel arrived first and attempted to call out to anyone in the residence through an open front door. When they received no answer, they entered the residence to look for anyone in need of medical attention. They found a six-year-old female submerged in a bath tub unconscious and immediately began life saving efforts, but she was pronounced dead.
The girl's father, Adam Alexander Scott, was found dead in the garage with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. There was no one else in the home. Reno Police say a suicide note was located in the residence.
While the cause of death for the father was apparent, the cause of death for the girl is still pending and will require toxicology and laboratory testing, police say. These results are not expected for a couple months. The girl was the biological daughter of the father.
This case has been determined to be a murder-suicide, according to police.
The deceased are survived by a spouse/mother and a son/brother.
