CARSON CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Nevada Highway Patrol says the 14-year-old hit by a car in Carson City yesterday suffered serious injuries, and the woman who hit him will be cited.

NHP says the boy will survive the injuries, but he is still in the ICU at Renown.

Witnesses confirm that the teen was inside the parameters of the crosswalk when he was hit, and that the motorist, Elvira Madera, is at fault.

NHP says drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.

Madera volunteered a blood sample, and law enforcement will have the results in 30 days. She will be cited eventually, but the charges are dependent on how the boy's medical condition progresses.
