Reno, NV (KRNV & MyNews4.com)-- The Veterans Guest House celebrated Veterans Day, November 11th, by staging a mass balloon release. Veterans, officials working with the house and members of the public gathered to release hundreds of orange balloons into the sky in honor of those exposed to Agent Orange.
Even though the event was taking place as part of Veteran's Day celebrations, officials with the Veterans House say that they wanted to commemorate those who have suffered from Agent Orange exposure, veteran and civilian alike.
Agent Orange was a chemical weapon used most prominently in the Vietnam war. Red Cross officials estimate that over one million people have suffered health problems or disabilities due to exposure to Agent Orange.
The Veterans Guest House provides temporary housing to veterans undergoing medical treatment in the Reno/Sparks area.
It is located at 880 Locust Street in Reno, Nevada.
