Reno, NV (MyNews4.com) -- Aaron Cunningham walked with the bases loaded in the 10th inning to give the Reno Aces a 5-4 come-from-behind win over the Salt Lake Bees Saturday night.
The walk-off win was Reno’s third of the season, and all three have come at home.
Salt Lake jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. Kole Calhoun and J.B. Shuck singled to lead off the game, and David Freese homered to left field to drive them in.
Reno answered in the second inning when Roger Kieschnick crushed a solo home run to deep right-center field.
After Salt Lake got the run back in the fifth inning, the Aces tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Mike Jacobs hit an opposite field, two-run home run, and Kieschnick capitalized on an Andy Marte double by driving him home with a single to center field.
The teams remained locked at four until the 10th inning, despite each team having runners in scoring position multiple times over the final three innings. The Aces got runners on the corners with one out, but Didi Gregorius grounded into an inning-ending double play.
In the 10th, Marte and Kieschnick each hit two-out singles, and Blake Lalli walked to load the bases. With a full count, Bees pitcher Brandon Lyon missed high, and Marte scored from third to win the game.
Jacobs and Kieschnick each finished with two RBI. Didi Gregorius went 3-for-5, and Marte finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
Will Harris pitched two scoreless innings and picked up his second win of the season for the Aces. Harris combined with fellow relievers Mark Serrano, Jess Todd, and Eury De La Rosa to toss five scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
Reno will go for its second series victory in a row tomorrow afternoon. RHP Charles Brewer (3-5, 6.12) will get the start for Reno, and the Bees will counter with LHP Brooks Raley (0-0. 3.60). First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
