VICTORVILLE, Calif. (Mynews4.com & KRNV) - "Any opportune time you never know what you're going to catch," said Jennifer Simpson of Victorville, California. Simpson posted a video to YouTube Thursday night.  She says by Friday morning, her phone was ringing off the hook because the man in the video was believed to be former Nevada Assemblyman Steven Brooks.

Simpson says she was sitting inside her house with her husband and kids.  The patio door was open and she says they heard a helicopter. "My husband grabbed the camera and the kids and said film it we have to film it!"

Simpson explains how her husband caught the last four minutes of a police chase and arrest on camera. Simpson says they had no idea who the suspect was at the time of the recording. "I just thought maybe this guy robbed a liquor store," she said.

According to Barstow Police Department, Steven Brooks was arrested in the same location Thursday night after a police chase.  He was driving a vehicle described as the one seen in the video.

"The video doesn't show it [but] he did come out of the vehicle. They told him to put his hands up then they said something about letting go of the dog if he didn't cooperate. As soon as that happened he turned and bolted. The dog didn't get him so he jumped back in suburban," said Simpson.

That is when Simpson says her husband started recording. What he caught on camera is violent and disturbing. The video shows an officer tackling then pummeling the suspect on the ground. Simpson says she watched from a different angle than her husband who was behind the camera. "I agree seeing it on film. It's like wow, look at that, they are just wailing on him. But from my side looking he was really fighting them," said Simpson.

what do U mean "talking crap"? The disjoinred sentences and garbled grammar? or "talking trash" about cops who got a 'freebie'? In their minds he's a rougue ex-LAPD with a s-eating grin on his mug all the time, which really tees 'em off. How was Your day?

my god... some people are just fools... Hell the one officer with the shotgun you can see has orange on it which normally means its a beanbag gun he had every chance to come out and follow commands but he rather play games and then looks like he bolted from the car pushing cops out the way to get past them... you do all of that and yes they will kick your ass because normal people don't do that crap... he is a nut job ... and these are the people who now are talking crap but you hear what they are saying in the video and makes you wonder about them
