ELKO, Nev. (KENV, KRNV, MyNews4.com & AP) — Elko County sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a woman who was trapped in a burning car on a dirt road near U.S. Interstate 80 about seven miles northeast of Elko.

Sheriff's Lt. Marvin Morton was the first to respond to the scene Wednesday night near the I-80 Osino exit.

State forestry officials and the Ryndon Volunteer Fire Department also responded but were unable to free the woman from the older model Plymouth.

There were no signs of criminal activity and the fire is being treated as accidental. They have not identified the white female victim.
