RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - News 4's Fact Finder has just uncovered new details which had been confidential until now about the controversial court case where a judge may order a mentally-impaired adult to have a forced abortion.
Portions of a report released just a couple of hours ago are giving the public a better picture of what the pregnant 32-year-old wants to happen with her medically high-risk pregnancy. New court filings though say a previously confidential Washoe County public guardian's report argues against the idea that the woman has clear feelings about the pregnancy - writing the ward: "may not have ever been competent to make these decisions. And it is also clear that she will often repeat what others say directly to her and answer in a manner which she believes pleases those around her."
And the report states that some of the ward's responses indicated she does not understand her situation or the process of impregnation and pregnancy.
Again doctors say this woman has the mental capacity of about a six-year-old. And no one on any side is really arguing that she should make this decision herself. What's at question is if her legal guardians should do it or an officer of the court. That's what the Nevada Supreme Court is expected to weigh in on any minute now. Of course News 4 will let you know how they decide.
