RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - Chris Kahl and his business partner, Michael Connolly, are busy constructing the new Brewer's Cabinet Restaurant. This will be their forth business, but the enterprises almost didn't happen because banks kept denying them loans, so they had to turn to family and friends.
“Without their support there is no way we could have done any of it,” Kahl said.
The pair knows others might not be as lucky.
“We feel like there are other people out in the community who have great ideas. And we'd love to help them out,” Kahl said.
So the two decided to donate five cents from each item purchased at any of their businesses. That goes into a fund to loan out to start-ups in the area.
“We just want to see people get back to work and ideas that may not have happened, happen,” Connolly said.
The pot of money is open to any type of business, and the guys hope to create a system where the people of Reno will get to choose the winners. You will be able to help out the cause at any of the pair's businesses like Legends Grill, Sierra Tap House, Old Bridge Pub and the soon to be opened Brewer's Cabinet. The two also say they'd like to get even more local shops on board with the program in the future.
