RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - At the edge of downtown off of 3rd and Arlington, neighbor John Kemp says there's a hotspot for homeless to hangout.
“I was homeless before. I now they are going to set fires in these places just to keep warm,” he said.
In fact you can still see damage from a small fire in the garage this weekend. The property is going through the foreclosure process and the city originally condemned it back in September. Since then, people have busted in.
“The windows gotta be bored up. It needs to be secure,” Kemp said.
News 4 reported those concerns to code enforcement who took us inside to find syringes, metal wires which had been stripped and a dumpster dropped down on its side with food pulled out of the trash.
“It’s within everyone’s best interest for us to get this boarded up as soon as possible,” Code Enforcement Manager Alex Woodley said.
Within just hours Reno had crews blocking off the building and hopefully repairing the neighbor's shattered sense of security.
