RENO, Nev. - As millions of people waited in line for big deals today, not everyone was happy. Some Walmart workers gathered with friends to protest outside the stores nationwide including two locations here in Reno.

The group said they didn’t like Walmart’s “poverty level pay and unfair employment practices.”

“Walmart they make record profits and here they don't even pay these people a living wage to feed their families,” protester Mary Jan Roesler said..”I would love to see the Walmart corporate people try to live off of that.”

In a statement to NBC, Walmart says, "The fact is, our pay and benefits plans are as good as or better than our retail competitors, including those that are unionized."

If a person has a different "mindset" than a 9-5 job and works from home, there is no need for a boss, raise, or any of those things. I have worked from home for the last 5 years in my several online businesses and live extremely comfortable with no alarm clock to answer to. It amazes me that people choose to worry about earning a living when there is an alternative THAT WORKS!

I agree with rddc1947. A job is a job is a job. Before you get that job you should see what the incentives are. Health insurance? 401K? Regular pay raises? Instead of jumping on a job and then being unhappy later on. My husband has had only about 4 raises at his job that he's been at for the past 8 years. However, he gets big bonus checks. He gets a FREE big lunch everyday. He gets to travel to different shows for the company with accommodations paid. Boss man pays for at least one or two luxurious meals while at shows. He's sometimes unhappy about his job but then he remembers the bonuses and travel he gets to do, which in turn he SMILES that he's a lucky man.

I agree w/ the previous comment 100%!!! I worked for the same company for 14 yrs.... hadn't had a raise in 7 yrs .... then a British company bought my company out, wanted me to do MORE work w/out an increase inpay .... and then wanted me to be a "robot" to boot!! I quit, hoping that I would get UEC due to the fact that a supervisor came in & ranked me out infront of my own customers & those of the casino. I was denied comp. even tho it was a hostile environment! Oh yeah ... my rate of pay? a lousy $9.85/hr for a long time employee!!! All I want now is a job or the UEC that SHOULD have been paid!!
