RENO, Nev. (AP, KRNV & MyNews4.com) - Police say one of the victims of a shooting at a Renown hospital campus has died.
Reno Deputy Police Chief Tom Robison says two people are dead, including the shooter and one of his victims. At least two more were being treated. Police say the gunman entered the Center for Advanced Medicine at Renown Regional Medical Center at about 2:45 p.m. with at least one gun and began shooting. The shooter then turned the gun on himself before 3 p.m.
As of 6pm the Reno Police Department says they have not positivlty identified the suspect. Initally police do not believe this was a random shooting, but the exact target or movtive is not clear.
The shooter killed himself with a self inflicted shot. One other person is dead. The two people that were injured, but not killed, are in critical condition. All the people injured or killed were shot.
Building was temporarly closed for teams go room-by-room floor-by-floor clearing the building at 1500 E. 2nd Street.
If people need to get into Renown you are advised to go into the Mill Street enterance.
Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Gail Powell said the wounded doctor is a woman but she had no more information about the identity of the victims or the gunman, the type of weapon or a motive for the attack. She said the shooting happened at the Center for Advanced Medicine and Neurology of Nevada at Renown Regional Medical Center. Some news agencies have release the name of the one person that was killed, but News 4 is not releasing the name until it has been released by the Reno Police Department.
