2 mile tornado hits southern Oklahoma City, kills at least 51

MOORE, Okla. (AP) -- Officials say a small hospital in Moore was damaged by Monday afternoon's tornado.

The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management spokeswoman Keli Cain says the Moore Medical Center sustained damage.

Cain also said the hospital was evacuated and all 13 patients were transferred to other facilities.

Cain said she didn't know the conditions of the patients or the extent of the damage at the hospital, which is southwest of Oklahoma City.

UPDATE - 4:34PM - NBC News has confirmed at least 10 are dead following the massive tornado, according to an Oklahoma City medical examiner.

(NBC News) Violent weather returned Monday afternoon when a massive funnel touched down just south of Oklahoma City.

Aerial footage showed portions of the town of Moore reduced to rubble.

A debris cloud nearly two miles wide was reported over the area, and two elementary schools were heavily damaged.

The tornado comes just one day after a dozens of tornados touched down across the Midwest, leaving at least two dead and damaging or destroying hundreds of homes.
