2 people found to have 159 lbs. of pot in car during traffic stop

WINNEMUCCA, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- A man and his female passenger were found to have 159 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle after being pulled over for a routine traffic stop. 

On Wednesday, May 22, 2013, a trooper from the Nevada Highway Patrol stopped a Penske moving truck for a traffic violation near Winnemucca. The trooper says that when he was talking to the driver, 33-year-old Earl Pointer, the trooper smelled an odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. Field sobriety tests were conducted on Pointer, and he was subsequently arrested for DUI.

During the traffic stop, the trooper said he also suspected criminal activity. A NHP K-9 was deployed around the truck and alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, several large packages of marijuana were located in the cargo area of the truck, rounding out to 159 pounds.

Pointer was charged with:
DUI 1st
Possession of Controlled Substance
Possession of Controlled Substance for Sales
Trafficking of Controlled Substance Marijuana
Transporting a Controlled Substance
His total bail was $56,127.

The female passenger, Venisha Estrada, age 37, from California, was also arrested and charged with:
Possession of Controlled Substance
Possession of Controlled Substance for Sales
Trafficking of Controlled Substance Marijuana
Transporting a Controlled Substance
Her total bail was $55,000

So you're hauling 159 lbs of pot from kalifornia to somewhere (maybe Colorado where pot is legal) and you can't lay off the booze for the time your driving? That is why this state is going to @#)$ because stupid people like this are migrating in droves from kalifornia to here also.
